Laphroaig 18 Year Old Diamond Jubilee

Laphroaig have announced the launch of a special edition single malt. Laphroaig 18 Year Old Diamond Jubilee will be available from June, and as the name suggests it will be specially packaged to mark the Queens 60th Jubilee this year.

This whisky will be in a limited edition of just 3000 and will carry Prince Charles’ “by appointment” symbol, which the distillery gained after a visit from him in 1994. It is the only whisky company to actually carry this honour.

The Laphroaig 18 Year Old Diamond Jubilee will be only available to buy in the UK, and because of its rarity is expected to sell out very quickly and become a collectors item.

Laphroaig has pledged £3000 of the profits to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust so this good cause will benefit from our drinking pleasure.

Distillery manager John Campbell said; “With Laphroaig’s royal connection to HRH Prince Charles, and as our most famous patron, we thought it only right to create a special pack to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne.  As proud bearers of a royal warrant Laphroaig is delighted that our 18 Year Old has become part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in its beautifully designed, premium Jubilee packaging.”

Laphroaig is an Islay distillery producing some of the most peaty, distinctive whiskies on the market. I count the 18 year old as one of my personal favourites, when I can find one.
